John And Susan’s House

Hank – We took the red-eye from Anchorage to SeaTac airport. It was strange sitting in the airport at midnight and it was still light outside.  And sunrise was around 3:30 am. That’s a lot of daylight hours. I have no inclination towards experiencing a winter there.

My brother John picked us up at the airport and took us to his house in Tacoma, Washington. We stayed with him and his wife Susan until Sunday. Their youngest daughter, Bekah, is living with them for the time being. She just got engaged so congratulations to her and her beau, Matthew.

Our son Geoff came up from Berkeley, California to spend the week in Bellevue for work. He extended his stay and came down to John’s house on Saturday morning. Josh and Amanda also drove down to join us for the day. And our daughter Steph, who was picking us up to take us home also arrived. We had a barbecue and drinks and played lawn darts. (Nobody got hurt and John and I defeated all comers.) And to top it off, Saturday was also Kathy and my 39th anniversary. How lucky I am to have her in my life. And it was great to have the family together on that day.

Kathy – After John picked is up at the airport we had breakfast at a nice small diner with John and Susan. Then it was nap time since it is hard to sleep on a plane.

Hank’s brother John is retired Air Force (like Hank) and into his second career working as a civilian at Joint Base Lewis-McCord in Tacoma. Susan is a school principal. We really enjoyed our time with them. Lots of catching up, walks to see beautiful sunsets and waterways, and plenty of laughter. They are great people and we are thankful for all their warm hospitality not only for us but for our adult children as well. They are too kind!

I was totally stoked to see all my children! It’s been over six months since we have seen them, so it was pretty special to have them all together. And of course it wasn’t long enough, but we enjoyed the time we had together. It was sunny in the 70’s so we had an outside barbecue. Good food, games, and lots of talking and laughter made for a great time. Thanks to John, Susan and Becka for all you did to make our stay at your place so comfortable and welcoming! ❤️

Josh and Amanda headed back to Seattle. We said our goodbyes to John, Susan and Becka. We drove Geoff to the airport as he flew back to Berkeley, California. And then Steph, Hank and I drove back to Spokane, Washington!

Can’t believe we are home! It’s just shy of 14 months on the road as we rode in 49 states. Hawaii – our 50th state will come soon. I will also crunch s the numbers from our trip and report them soon too. For now, it’s time to relax and enjoy some downtime. So more blog post will come, just not daily. It’s been an incredible journey! Thank you to everyone for all your support during our travels. 💗💗💗
