On To State #49

Hank – Josh dropped us off at the airport this morning. Our flight to Anchorage was delayed for about 45 minutes when a person in front of us vomited before we could leave the gate. They got off the plane and a cleaning crew had to clean up the mess. Fun times.

Our flight went well and we picked up a rental car at the airport. After having lunch we checked out the Anchorage Museum.

The museum was pretty cool. The native artifacts were fascinating. You know nothing is going to waste when people are making parkas out of seal and walrus intestines.

Kathy – We had a 7:00 am flight out of Seattle so it was an early morning. Thanks to our son Josh for waking up extra early and have us at the airport by 5am. He’s such a sweetheart. I miss him and Amanda already. 💗💗💗

Our flight up to Anchorage, Alaska was delayed over an hour because the gal in the row in front of us vomited on the other two people sitting next to her just before the plane was taxing out to the runway. Must say I am happy we were not sitting next to her. Apparently she did not know these folks and kept apologizing. They got off the plane and were going to catch a later flight after getting cleaned up. The cleaning crew came in and once things were mostly back to normal we took off. The gal that vomited must have felt better because she slept the entire four hour flight. Otherwise everything was uneventful and we arrived in Alaska, the 49th State! We ride here tomorrow, also our 49th State. Looking forward to riding after four days off the bikes.

Alaska is such a majestic state. It is so beautiful and our weather is amazing, sunny with temps in the mid to high 70’s. Lucky us! The last time I was here it was for work in January with snow piled very high everywhere. The city’s contrast is vastly different now compared to then.

The Anchorage museum was very nice. It provided us with a good historical view of the state. It also had some reallt amazing art. Happy we were able to visit this beautiful place.

I love the museum photos. Think I’d like to visit it some weekend but not repeat the flight you took.
