Portland Visit

Hank – After turning in the rental, we moved in with my Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike at their new place along the Willamette River. They moved there last August from Seattle and love it. There’s lots of public transportation, a nearby gym, and plenty of things to do.

My Uncle John, who lives in Gresham, and Aunt Gloria hosted all of us with a BBQ at his house. I got to meet my cousin Molly, whom I haven’t seen in years, her husband, Jeff, and their kids, Allie and Cole.

By the way, my bike had a flat tire when we arrived in Portland. I found two pieces of radial tire steel wire and a piece of glass in the tire. One of the wires had pierced the tube. So that’s flat number five for me, I think.

Kathy – We have had a wonderful time in Portland, Oregon. It was super awesome to spend time with Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike. Aunt Janet is a retired pediatric nurse and Uncle Mike is retired from his own company (publication) that focused on economic issues. They recently sold their home in Seattle and purchased a condo in downtown Portland, Oregon with a phenomenal view.

We really enjoyed spending time with a couple of hip 70 year olds. They are extremely knowledgeable and super fit for their age. I can only hope Hank and I are in such great shape in about 20 years. They are also super nice, kind and compassionate people who would help out any one in need. I am so pleased they found an amazing condo with an outstanding view so they can be near their daughter Sarah. It is a great place to retire and simply enjoy life. We truly loved spending a few days with these fantastic people. We are thankful for our time with them and all the hospitality they provided us.

We had a wonderful Fathers Day in Gresham, Oregon with Hank’s Uncle John and Aunt Gloria. They have a beautiful home and we really enjoyed catching up with John and Gloria. We also enjoyed our time with cousins Molly and Jeff and their two amazing kids Allie and Cole. We had a fabulous visit and enjoyed our time with everyone. And, John and Gloria cooked an absolutely fabulous Father’s Day meal. We are thankful for our time with them in their wonderful home. 💗💗💗

We also enjoyed our time with Hank’s cousin Sarah (Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike’s daughter). We listened to some of Sarah’s friends sing at a small little chapel. Their singing was amazing and the concert was outstanding. Sarah is a nurse and works in a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at a hospital here in Portland. We took the tram up to the hospital to visit her one day. I left my Oregon packet of flower seeds with Sarah. She is doing fantastic and it was great to spend time with her.

During our few days in Portland we spent lots of time catching up with Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike and exploring the downtown Portland areas. We got in tons of walking which was a welcome relief after being in the rental car for five days.

This morning after Uncle Mike made a delicious breakfast it was time to move on and ride towards Olympia and Tacoma, Washington. I will miss these two totally amazing people. Thank you Aunt Janet and Uncle Mike for an outstanding few days. We loved our time with you and are grateful for everything! 💗💗💗
