Yuma Fun

Hank – We spent the last two days hanging out with Steve and Janet, experiencing a taste of the RV life, and seeing some of Yuma. Steve and I went to a classic car show on Saturday. He’s owned and worked on many cars since his high school years so he has a wealth of knowledge. Not being a gear head myself I learned a lot and Steve was patient answering my questions.

We went to a dance at the RV park that evening where we met Sonya. Sonya is approaching 80 years old and is a long time cyclist. She can cut a rug like nobody’s business and in high heels, too. We also met their great friends Judy and Butch there. The band was very good. The guitar player looked and occasionally sounded like Willie Nelson. We met more of Steve and Janet’s friends. Kathy and I had a great time.

On Sunday we checked out the Yuma Territorial Prison Museum and the old downtown. It was interesting how modern the prison was for its time and yet hellish, too. It had electricity and great medical and dental care. But the summer heat was and still is brutal.

We spent Sunday evening playing Karma with Steve, Janet, and their friends, Jeff and Sandy. A good time was had by all.

Kathy – We have thoroughly enjoyed our time hanging out with Janet and Steve in Yuma, Arizona. They are staying south in the winter months and have stayed at the same RV Park for the last five years. This is due to the many activities the park offers along with meeting up yearly with so many good friends.

I must say it’s a pretty sweet deal down here. Sunny with the temps in the mid 70s. So many things to do right in the park alone. Too many wonderful friends they introduced us too but can’t remember everyone’s names now. And you look right outside in most any direction and you see mountains surround you. Hank had lots of folks telling him how great RV life is. I am totally open to getting a small RV sometime in the future and heading south for a few of the winter months. Still working on Hank, but no doubt there were things about this RV living that he liked. Janet told him he was screwed – meaning it was just a matter of time before we purchase an RV. 😄 Time will tell. 🚐 🚎

We really had a wonderful few days with Janet and Steve. I have always considered Janet a co-worker, but now she is my friend. We are looking forward to seeing them in Spokane towards the end of the summer once we return from the bike trip and before they leave for the winter again. They really are amazing people and fantastic host. We are so thankful for all that they have done to make our journey more comfortable and fun. Thank you Janet and Steve, you two are superstars!!!
