Hank – We drove to Austin and visited the capitol building and the Texas State Museum. It was a cloudy, drizzly day but our visits were great. I thoroughly enjoyed both places. At the museum I had a reminder of my Boy Scout days when I was at Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas almost 50 years ago. In the display about the Native Americans there were signs talking about the different tribes. One was the Tonkawa. Our summer camps were spent at Camp Tonkawa near Buffalo Gap, Texas. I have a great story about how I blew up a latrine there once.

Kathy – Our travels to Austin today went much faster in the rental car. We spent most of our day seeing the capital building and the Texas State Museum. Both were very large buildings (apparently a Texas thing 😉) with amazing architecture, along with many monuments, sculptures, exhibits, displays, artifacts, and just a ton of interesting material to read and learn from. We put on the miles today walking everywhere which was a nice change up from the bikes. Overall I enjoyed this informative day in Austin, Texas.
