A Banquet In My Honor

The other morning at William Sterling State Park in Michigan we did not realize how active the mosquitoes were that early in the day. A large number of them got into the tent as we took turns going to the bathroom to clean up and get dressed for the day. Kathy left when I got back to the tent and in the glow of my smart phone I noticed a mosquito. I killed it and it was full of blood, which meant it already bit me or Kathy. Then I found another. And another. I killed about 20 of them and all of them had feasted. I was a bit puzzled because I hadn’t felt any bites. It wasn’t until later in the day that the tops of my feet were itching me. All told I had eight bites on one foot and five on the other. And a few more on my back and backside and my legs and my arms. It’s been an itchy couple of days.

  2. For the mosquito and biting black flies. Try permethrin on your clothing. Google insect shield. You can have your clothing riding gloves etc treated and it lasts 70 washings. I am avid hiker camper bike rider. It really works and helps protects you from ticks too!!!!!
