It’s A Small World

This morning I saw a man fishing at the campground. He said he heard Kathy and I were from Spokane. He is also from Spokane. Not only that, but he and I were in the same high school graduating class–North Central class of 74. He lived about six blocks away from me over by the Broadway Foods store. Steve Sampson and I have never met but we have now. Steve left Spokane after school and never went back. He loves to fish and he releases the bass he catches so he can catch them again. He’s friends with the campground owner and has been helping make improvements. He lives on the west side of Michigan with his wife and children. It’s funny that I had to travel 2800 miles by bicycle 44 years later to meet someone who lived a half mile away from me.

I think you guys were destined to meet. Even though you didn’t when you were in high school together fate brought you together later in life. Here’s to a new friendship.
