Rest Day – Trains And Tours

Hank – We had lunch after visiting the gift shop at Lambeau Field where Kathy bought a few items and had them shipped home. If you can paint it green and yellow and there’s room for “GB” then it’s in the gift shop. Things such as scented candles, guitars, ukuleles, coolers, crock pots, light switch covers, outdoor furniture covers, rugs, wine bottle openers, golf balls, steering wheel covers, mugs, cheerleader outfits, shoes, lip balm, and so on.

Kathy wanted to visit the Packers Hall of Fame. I’m just not that into sports so I took a pass and got on my bike to mail some stuff home, pick up some chain oil at a bike shop, and visit the National Railroad Museum. We still had a few items that we’ve been carrying or picked up along the way that we’re not using. So that’s one more small box going home.

The National Railroad Museum wasn’t as big as I expected. I attribute that to the promotional material I’ve seen. But it was still pretty cool. I’ve always had an affinity for anything related to the railroad. About five years ago I had the opportunity to rail bike courtesy of a wonderful person named Michael Conley who took me out for a rail ride with some of his friends.

There were some very interesting trains at the museum. I’ve never seen or heard of the Big Boy. Wow! That is one incredible engine. Only 25 were made. They must’ve been a sight and sound to remember when they passed by.

Kathy missed out. She went on a tour of the stadium at Lambeau Field lead by former Packer player Antonio Freeman. Or something lame like that. 😉 I‘m sure you’ll hear about it soon.

Enjoyed the railbiking video. This Spokane person has followed your travels with pleasure. So inspired that I am taking my daughters on the Weiser River Trail next week.

    2. Robin, great to hear from you! Happy you are enjoying our travel blog too. Too bad we just left the beautiful state of Wisconsin yesterday and we are now in Michigan. I hope you and the rest of the family are doing well. Looking forward to seeing you when we head through Illinois next summer. Love to you! 💗 Kathy
