Upper Body Workout

This morning I checked the bikes over and saw Kathy’s front tire was flat. First flat of the adventure! Kathy wasn’t done with her morning tea so I got busy with the tire because after 37 years I know it’s best to let Kathy finish her morning tea.

Since it was a slow leak I suspected something small like a piece of glass. I removed the tube and made sure the tire kept its orientation, which would help me locate the glass once I found the hole. I drowned the tube in the sink until I found the leak and then matched that location with the tire. Bingo! One piece of glass trying to hide next to a tread bump. Since we had time I went ahead and patched the tube. I used Kathy’s pump like it was a mail order Charles Atlas exercise device. No scrawny weaklings here! Since the gauges on pumps can be wildly off target I brought along a nice lightweight gauge. Done and done. Oh, look. Kathy’s done with her tea now.
